The White House’s Office of National Drug Control Policy and The Walsh Group have partnered on a number of projects over the past decade. The most recent projects have addressed illegal drugs in driving, and have utilized field studies and laboratory work. TWG has also completed work for the ONDCP involving illegal drugs and sports, which included serving as the scientific advisor to the Center for Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University (CASA)’s Commission on Drugs in Sport. </span></td>

Our work with NIDA has focused on several aspects of substance abuse: alcohol abuse treatment and illegal drugs and driving. Our drug/alcohol treatment project has involved quantitative research on a national level, while our illegal drugs and driving project involves both national data collection and international collaboration with nations in the European Union.</span></td>

The policy was designed to apply to over one thousand employees and involved the training of more than 400 supervisors. </p>

The Department of Education has been our primary client in the field of student drug testing. The Walsh Group has helped design, implement, and evaluate random drug testing in three public high schools in New Jersey. The legality of random testing was taken all the way to the Supreme Court of New Jersey, where the US Dept of Education, The Walsh Group, and its strategic partners received a favorable verdict that granted the program was constitutionally sound.</span></td>

Projects with the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) have included a Workplace Managed Care program and the creation of the National Laboratory Certification program/Federal Drug Testing Regulations. We also created the ‘Best Practice for the use of Drug Testing in Treatment Programs’ guidelines for Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT)</span></td>

In a public policy research grant TWG partnered with the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Substance Abuse to examine the feasibility of Per e Laws for drugged driving in the US. Together with ABA staff attorneys all 50 state laws were analyzed and a series of consensus meting were convened. The resulting reports have been widely distributed and are considered seminal references on state DUID laws.</span></td>
