alcohol, drowsiness, coordination problems or the inability to
walk in a steady manner, slurred speech, and unpredictable
and sometimes violent behavior. If your organization is
regulated by DOT – or if you have employees required to
have commercial driver’s licenses, your supervisory
responsibilities may include initiating reasonable suspicion
and post-accident alcohol tests for covered employees.
However, even if your organization is not regulated by DOT,
you should not ignore employees who may be misusing
alcohol. Contact your EAP for assistance in referring such
employees for assessment and assistance.
