<div>The article in the middle column points to simultaneous achievement of recognition of excellence by two public higher ed institutions at either end of the great state of Texas.... Del Mar College in Corpus Christi and Tyler Junior College their distant colleagues operating the four linked campuses at the far end of the state, centered in Tyler.</div>

<div>While the realities that to achieve this form of distinction calls for campus-wide talent and devotion to excellence in education (and in BOTH of these cases this means multiple campuses) I would like to single out two leaders who are more than coincidentally colleagues and friends... Dr. Mark Escamilla, President of Del Mar College, who immediately before assuming his post at Del Mar was formerly the Provost at Tyler Junior College, and Dr. Michael Metke, President at the extra-ordinary system centered across the state in Tyler... </div>
