<h1 class="main">Svoboda Collins And Mesirow Financial, Inc. Co-Sponsor The Acquisition Of Smith, Bucklin & Associates</h1>
<p class="main"><b>CHICAGO, August 20, 2002</b> - Svoboda, Collins L.L.C. (SC) and Mesirow Financial, Inc. (MFI) today announced that they have co-sponsored the acquisition of Smith, Bucklin & Associates (Smith Bucklin or the Company), the world's largest association management firm. SC and MFI partnered with Henry S. Givray to complete the transaction. Givray will become president and CEO of the company.</p>
<p class="main">Founded in 1949, Smith Bucklin today employs more than 600 associates and manages more than $170 million in annual client budgets. The Company provides full-service management, program management and contract services to trade associations, professional societies, technology user groups and industry consortiums worldwide from offices in Chicago, Washington, DC, and St. Louis. Smith Bucklin offers the industry's most complete range of professional services, human and technical resources and industry knowledge, which cover virtually all of the front- and back-office needs of associations.</p>
<p class="main">"In Smith Bucklin we see a company that is the clear leader in its industry. <p class="main">A former Smith Bucklin executive, Givray returns to the firm after most recently serving as Chairman, President and CEO of CourtLink Corporation, an online services company for the legal industry. Givray led the sale of CourtLink to LexisNexis Group. Prior to CourtLink, Givray served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Giga Information Group. During his 13-year tenure at Smith Bucklin, Givray led a variety of associations in the technology, healthcare, manufacturing and service industries and served as senior vice president where he developed and managed Smith Bucklin's business in the technology industry, the firm's largest and fastest growing business area.</p>
