International Fiber Collaborative
Actively Seeking Participants Panels Due: March 15th, 2008

The goal of the International Fiber Collaborative is to provide an opportunity for people who enjoy working with crafts, whether professional artists, hobbyists or students to come together from all over the world to express their concerns about their countries extreme dependency on oil for energy. Those who participate will crochet, knit, stitch, patch, or collage 3 foot square fiber panels that will express each participants concern on this topic. Your panel need not contain an image or be a literal portrayal of your idea. Simply by designing and creating a panel of any colors and any fiber technique and participating in this project you are, in the larger picture, expressing your concern on this important subject to the rest of the world. In March of 2008, these panels will be sewn together to completely cover an abandoned gas station and gas pumps in central. The interest for this large cover to travel to other abandoned gas stations nationally as well as internationally is growing and is becoming much more of a reality.
Or email Jennifer Marsh at [email protected]

Allied Arts Foundation - Great News! On October 4, 2007 I received confirmation that the International Fiber Collaborative has gained Fiscal Sponsorship through the Allied Arts Foundation in Seattle, Washington.
This means if a granting foundation would like to provide financial assistance for this collaborative, the Allied Arts Foundation will provide a tax number and such information.

Stickley, Audi & Co. - Stickley, Audi & Co. has donated over 2,000 square feet of fabric remnants for local grade school students to decorate and participate in this collaborative.

As this collaborative roles along I am desperately seeking financial support. I have written dozens of grant proposals seeking financial support from private foundations. However I have not received any support as of now. I do realize however it takes some time to hear back from these organizations. My faith in this collaborative is strong, and I do belief that this work is for the greater good of our communities, artists, youth, and the arts. I am wholly convinced that if we can get the word out about this project to the right people we will gain support; it is just a matter of doing so and of having the finances to do it. My goal still remains to get the local community and then the national and international communities involved over the coming years. So that I might travel with this installation through out the nation and then international covering abandoned gas stations and working in each community locally. I want this collaborative to be come a home grown name, recognized, and acting as a staple in the Fiber and Sculpture Community.

Also, I would like to put together a video of short clips sent in by participants or those opposed to this project from all over the world, for a Gallery show in March 2008 promoting this project. If you would like to submit a short 1-4 minute video of you describing your views and/or interest on this project, or just working on your panel, please feel free to email me if you would like to do this. You can also show off any work in progress or your interest in the fiber arts. You may include this March show as a collaborative work in which you were involved in. Please consider this as a great way of participating and accelerating this project.
