Call for help for the summer! The State cut the Arts budget by 40% last year and to make it worse, they took almost 3 extra months to decide this. And in just the last week we have had 4 new students inquire about private lessons at a discounted rate. One through Hephzibah and 3 through private consult. If you can help, please make a donation today. We have never turned anyone away who qualifies for financial assistance and has a true desire or need to learn from us. Baldoceda Memorial Music Scholarship is awarded to a Steckman Studio of Music Student
Natalee Arteaga, was awarded a $1000 Scholarship through the Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation from the Carlos Baldoceda Memorial Scholarship Fund. Carlos died of a brain tumor at age 21. In the last years of his life Carlos took to playing guitar. It became very important to him. In recognition of that and in Carlos' memory his family set up a music scholarship fund. Natalee is the second Steckman Studio of Music student to be awarded the Carlos Baldoceda Memorial Scholarship. Two years ago, Jaime Martinez Junior was awarded the scholarship as a promising piano student. Natalee is a guitar student of Anthony Bracco, a former Steckman Studio of Music Jazz Ensemble participant, and graduate of both Oak Park River Forest High School and Columbia College in Guitar Performance and Contemporary Music. Natalie will use the scholarship for intensive private study in guitar and for preparation for college.
