On August 5th, 2003, a young man with a passion for music died of a
brain
tumor. His family did what few in their place would even consider:
they
turned the memory of their beloved son into something that would help
others. The Carlos G. Baldoceda Memorial Fund - an annual monetary
award
for promising young musicians - was awarded this year to a talented
young
pianist named Jaime Martinez, Jr.
<br><br>
Jaime, a student of Dr. Harry Steckman, has been playing piano for less
than two years and in that time he has made astonishing progress, now
playing such difficult pieces as the Chopin waltzes and nocturnes, the
Chavez prelude and Mozart's Ronda ala Turka.
<br><br>
Studying piano has already dramatically altered Jaime's future and the
Carlos Fund will now enable him to pursue further musical studies at
the
college level.
<br><br>
Congratulations Jaime!
