Smith, Hawaii to support the Commander in Chief of the Pacific Command (Admiral Blair) and two old friends and collegues (Dr. Lynda Jaques and Mr. Mike McCurdy) in the Research and Analysis Division. Don previously supported Admiral Blair when the Admiral was a "one-star" working on the Joint Staff in the Pentagon. At that time Don was the contract manager for the Joint Staff J-8 General Support Contract. The two old friends, Lynda and Mike have been working at USPACOM for over 15 years. Don first met them both when he was still in the Marine Corps and providing model and hardware support to the CinCs to assist them in their analytical missions. Lynda contacted Don several months ago to request that he take this job. The timing then was not good, since duties at VTC were keeping him too busy to consider the move. When she called again in March, however, the time seemed right, and the rest is history -- or so they say. <P>The new job location has taken 30 minutes of driving time off Don's daily commute (each way), so he now has more time to accomplish those all-important "honey-do's" when he gets home. Of course the move to Hawaii had good and bad points, since all of our children now live in the Washington D.C. metro area, it has been difficult to leave the area. But the daily sun and daily rainbows of Hawaii, have lessened the pain and we are now settling in. <P>Don is also assisting with the new-business development for Logicon - Syscon Defense Systems Division, and is working the usual long hours to help build the corporate presence on Oahu. We will keep in touch as we continue to empty boxes and landscape our yard over the next few months.
