      <h1 id="pagetitle">Charitable Organization for Parents of Disabled Children (GOORDI)</h1><br/>

<p><img src="images/goordi2.gif" alt="goordi" name="goordi" width="261" height="197" border="0" align="left">The Charitable Organization for Parents of&nbsp;Disabled Children (&laquo;GOORDI&raquo;) was established in&nbsp;Ryazan in&nbsp;1994 and focuses on&nbsp;social and legal rehabilitation of&nbsp;disabled children. This organization assists families with disabled children by&nbsp;providing medications, food, clothing and shoes; obtaining state financial aid for needy families; organizing summer rehabilitative activities and sightseeing tours for disabled children.</p>
<p>GOORDI &nbsp;applied for a&nbsp;$7,273 grant in&nbsp;order to&nbsp;continue its services for children with disabilities and their parents. Their project, &laquo;Everything for Health&raquo;, will target 25 young adults with severe mental and physical disabilities. Most of&nbsp;them are between 18 and 26 years of&nbsp;age, although their developmental ages are considerably less. By&nbsp;participating in&nbsp;this project <img src="images/goordi.jpg" alt="goordi" name="goordi" width="242" height="189" border="0" align="right">young adults receive medical help and water therapy treatments at&nbsp;a&nbsp;local swimming pool. They will also participate in&nbsp;an&nbsp;independent program, designed to&nbsp;teach people with disabilities to&nbsp;cope with everyday needs and to&nbsp;prepare for independent life. Children will be&nbsp;living in&nbsp;groups of&nbsp;3&ndash;4 people in&nbsp;a&nbsp;private apartment under the supervision of&nbsp;a&nbsp;social worker.</p>
<p>Ludmila Koroleva, RCWS’ Moscow Director, highly recommends this project. This organization not only helps disabled children adjust to&nbsp;life, but also keeps parents and their children together, thus decreasing the number of&nbsp;abandoned children in&nbsp;the region.</p>
<p>By&nbsp;the way, these children have also volunteered to&nbsp;create gift bag souvenirs for the RCWS Fashion event scheduled in&nbsp;September 2009.</p>
