<p>Many sick children in Russia today suffer needlessly due to a lack of sufficient healthcare. Sadly, most pediatric hospitals lack the proper resources to assist those with serious medical conditions. The Russian Children�s Welfare Society (RCWS) has been involved in several medical assistance projects helping to properly equip hospitals, promote training of Russian doctors in the latest medical advancements, and <nobr>co-sponsoring</nobr> the treatment of children.</p></td>

<td><p>Over six years ago, RCWS launched a project <a href="http://rcws.org/programs_medical.htm#beauty">"Give Beauty Back to the Children"</a> in partnership with <strong>Prof. Vitaly Roginsky</strong>, Head of the Moscow Center for Children’s Maxillofacial Surgery (<a href="http://www.childface.ru/" target="_blank">MCCMS</a>) and <strong>Lev Ambinder</strong>, Head of the Russian Aid Foundation (<a href="www.rusfond.ru/" target="_blank">Rusfond</a>), a charity established by the Russian newspaper Kommersant. Thousands of children are burdened by unsightly facial deformities as a result of congenital defects, tumors, cleft lips, cleft palates, and other traumas. MCCMS is one of the most innovative facilities in Russia providing treatment and rehabilitation for children with facial deformities.</p>

<td><p>The "Give Beauty Back to the Children" program has forever altered the lives of over 600 children suffering from facial deformities. Average cost per surgery is in the range of <strong>$2,500 — $5,000</strong>. Unfortunately, government funding does not cover such complicated surgery or the necessary equipment and quality medical supplies. Thanks to our mutual donors support and the help of advanced medical micro technology, Professor Roginsky and his staff have witnessed many of their patients� personalities flourish with hope and happiness as they gain the ability to do what is second nature to most — to smile.</p>

<p>Among Prof. Roginsky�s patients is <a href="http://www.rusfond.ru/letter/1/3903" target="_blank">16-year-old Denis Loginov</a> from Kazan. His mother tells the story: </p>
<span class="speach">"In 2010, my only son was diagnosed with a large cyst on a lower jaw. He had four surgeries in Kazan, followed by complications — the installed implant was rejected and the wounds would not heal for a long time. We thought that the worst part was behind us and that Denis was no longer in <nobr>life-threatening</nobr> danger. However, my son did not have a lower jaw bone and had no teeth. Denis could not eat or speak properly, and, of course, he was mortified by the appearance of his face. In Kazan we were offered another multistage reconstructive surgery. Then, I brought Denis to Moscow to see the <nobr>highly-regarded</nobr> Prof. Roginsky, who told us that just one surgery is needed to help my son. It turns out, such technologies do exist! I talked to my son�s doctor in Kazan and he strongly advised me to do this surgery under Prof. Roginsky�s supervision. However, we could not afford the treatment at the MCCMS. I am a single mother; my husband passed away a year ago from a heart attack. My only hope was the help of kind people." </span>
<p>Thanks to the joint efforts of the Rusfond, Prof. Roginsky�s team and RCWS, necessary funds were raised and Denis�s surgery was performed on November 1, 2011 at the MCCMS. His mother wrote in her thank- you letter: </p>
<span class="speach">"I want to thank the donors who contributed towards my son�s treatment. I am glad that there are people who are not indifferent to the pain of others. Now we have hope that Denis will be completely healthy and happy."</span>
<p>Young people like Denis need your help. The RCWS is proud to be an integral part of this important initiative. Please help us restore the lives of even more of these children by generously responding to this Easter appeal.</p>
