<p><strong>What is it about the marathon that attracts you and makes you want to participate?</strong><br/>
I started running many years ago and have participated in numerous runs in Berlin. The process of preparation for every competition is very important to me. The feeling of approaching my goal, getting fitter and outgrowing the limits encourages me to run almost every day. I visited NY two years ago and fell in love with this incredibly exciting and beautiful city. To participate in the ING NY Marathon will make my dream true!</p>

<p><strong>Why do you want to get involved with the RCWS?</strong></p>

<td>Thanks to my friends who volunteered at the RCWS, I heard a lot about this organization. RCWS is committed to helping disadvantaged children since 1926. Donations are designated for direct assistance to orphanages, medical support and transportation, improved living conditions, training programs and other educational initiatives and help children to develop into healthy and independent adults. As privileged individuals we have an opportunity to create a positive environment for these children. So I want to contribute my part to helping children to get better, healthier and happier lives.</td>

<p><strong>Why do you want to help Russian children and why this a cause that interests you?</strong><br/>
I was born in former USSR, in Kazakhstan. Even so I live in Germany now, I never forget my roots. Knowing how many families in Russia can not afford necessary medical support for their disabled children, I want to help raise funds for those children, who have been waiting for a surgery for many years. The funds raised by RCWS running team from 2012 ING NYC Marathon will be designated towards the reconstructive surgery for disadvantaged children with facial deformities. I am convinced that even a small contribution can help us to achieve a lot for these children.</p>

Three year old Eugenia was born with rare and difficult genetic disorders — Gigantic Intraextracranial Lipoma of the frontal lobe (forehead and bridge of nose) and Orbital Hypertelorism — widened bridge of the nose increasing the distance between the eyes. Despite numerous ill suggested advices to abandon Eugenia, her mother has refused to give Eugenia up and is fighting for her daughter’s health and future happiness.</p> <p> Eugenia’s lipoma is growing and she had the first surgery when she was approximately 2 years old, a procedure(s) her doctor wanted to start when she was older (4–5 years old) which would make her physically stronger. Now, Eugenia, requires the second surgery which will remove her lipoma (tumor), her facial frontal lobe area will be reconstructed, including rhinoplasty and orbital rearrangement (distance between her eyes) will be performed — a major event for a young girl. The surgical procedures will be free of charge, but Eugenia’s family lacks the financial means to cover the <nobr>pre-surgery</nobr> clinical procedures which includes CT Scan (computer modeling) and building a prototype face image.</p>
<p>Eugenia’s mother, Maria, had to quite her job to care for her, the father, Igor, is the sole provider for the family and his income does not cover the <nobr>pre-and-post</nobr> surgery cost. Your kind donation will not only will dramatically change little Eugenia’s face — it will change her health status, improve her future and her overall quality of life.</p>
