Most projects range in size from $500,000 to $10 million and we comfortably handle projects up to $15 million. </h3> <p>Pioneer Builders, Inc. is a commercial/industrial General Contractor based in central Prince George's County. We have maintained our office and shop at the same address in Tuxedo, Maryland since the company's founding in 1961. We are an open shop contractor and are active members of the Metro Washington Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors. </p> <p>Although many of our projects are in Prince George's County, we do work throughout the Metropolitan Washington Area including Montgomery, Howard, Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's Counties. We are fully bonded and licensed to do work in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia. We work in both the governmental and private sectors, with most of our projects awarded through competetive bidding or negotiation. Most of our projects are awarded using a lump sum contract although we also utilize the cost plus fixed percentage and cost plus fixed fee contracts for some of our clients. </p> <p>Over the years, we have built a strong base of satisfied customers and quality projects such as schools, libraries, post offices, shopping centers, maintenance facilities, warehouses, office buildings and pre-engineered steel buildings. On a typical project, we perform the concrete work and the carpentry work with our own forces. On many of our projects, we will also do the earthwork, steel erection and masonry with our forces depending on the nature and size of the job. We usually subcontract most of the remaining trades. We employ approximately 20 outside field employees and an office staff of 5. </p> <p>A substantial amount of our workload utilizes pre-engineered metal buildings manufactured by Varco Pruden Building Systems. Pioneer Builders is the oldest Varco Pruden Dealer in Maryland. Many of our pre-engineered projects are performed on a design/build basis. We also act as a subcontractor to furnish and erect pre-engineered buildings. </p> <p>Pioneer Builders, Inc. is a closely held family-owned corporation. Our family has been doing Commercial General Contracting in the Washington, D.C. area since 1935. We represent the third generation of General Contractors in our family.
