He is a 1978 <em>summa cum laude</em> graduate of Suffolk University Law School in Boston. He was a member of the winning team in the Tom C. Clark Moot Court competition and a Case Comment editor of the Suffolk University Law Review.</p> <p>Following law school graduation, Attorney Oney clerked for Justice Francis J. Quirico in the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts. Thereafter, he joined the firm of Nutter McClennen & Fish as an associate attorney in the business department. After two years, he returned to the field of software engineering. He has distinguished himself as an expert on Windows systems programming and has authored several books and numerous magazine articles in that field.</p> <p>Attorney Oney returned to the practice of law in 2003 in order to help ordinary people obtain high quality legal services at affordable prices. He has a particular interest in consumer privacy and protection.</p> <p>Oney devotes a significant portion of his practice to <em>pro bono</em> representation of low-income bankruptcy clients through Community Legal Aid and the Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Boston Bar Association. He has helped clients deal with staggering student loan debts, threatened welfare cutoffs, abusive debt collectors, and other credit problems. He received the 2006 Denis Maguire pro bono award and the 2010 Equal Justice VLS Bankruptcy Award for these contributions.</p> <div id="footer"> <p>Copyright © 2016 by Walter Oney.
