Thank you for browsing this catalog, listing programs from Radio's Golden Age, modern radio drama and comedy, and everything in between. The recordings presented here have been selected from a collection that began in 1967 and continues to grow today. I have tried to include a representative sampling of the programs that have been broadcast since 1978 over WBAI, 99.5 FM in NY, including several special productions I have presented through the years. Aside from the interviews and documentaries, many of the tapes listed here were Premiums, produced as incentives for contributors to WBAI fund drives. Unlike the standard tapes from other radio dealers, these tapes have been thoughtfully created, and most of them have background information on the programs, the creative teams, and the performers. They are, in essence, radio shows on tape.

PLEASE NOTE that the standard length of all tapes listed is 90 minutes, as opposed to the usual 60 minute tape format. Assume that all unmarked tapes are 90", and any tape that is not will have the length noted, usually (60"). The prices are based on the extra value of the longer tape, and will remain in effect until the first supplement is issued in a few months. For now, all fees, including postage and tax, are included in the cost of the tape. You will also see sale prices on some special sets of tapes throughout the catalog; order early to take advantage of these bargains - they may not be repeated! And please feel free to combine all offers and deals to get the best price. Hey, I'm easy.

All orders will be shipped in the order in which they come in, usually by first class mail. I should be able to ship your tapes within six days of receiving the order, although there could be an initial backlog. This is the first mass mailing, and I'm not sure what kind of response to expect. Please bear with me for the first month. In case of any long or unforseen delay, I will call or write.

A note on sound quality: All tapes were mastered from the best copy available to me, and most have been equalized and speed-corrected as needed, then mastered and duplicated on professional equipment for best possible sound. All are quite listenable. These are the same shows broadcast on the Golden Age of Radio and Mass Backwards, and any serious defects have been noted. Due to the age of these recordings, a certain amount of disc noise or other sound flaws is to be expected. I mean, they're antiques, fer Chrissake!

I currently use normal bias Maxell, TDK or equivalant tapes in standard hard plastic cases. Duplication is done on a new Telex high speed dubbing deck, except for the stereo material.

PLEASE HELP ME! Tell me what you want to see in future supplements - more from a certain
series? Complete shows from the archives of The Golden Age of Radio? More interviews? Different series? Tell me what's missing or what you would like to see offered!

Any questions or suggestions? I can be contacted through the WBAI switchboard (212-279-0707, 10am-6pm, Mon-Fri). Leave a message, as I am not in during normal business hours. With any inquiry, by phone or when writing, please include your phone number and the best times to call, to ensure a response. I'm not much of a letter writer. I prefer e-mail; it's easier and faster! My E-mail address: [email protected]
