The Mars Exchange is the hub of the Martian financial network— by extension, that of the entire Incatena. Over C. 10<sup>14</sup> worth of shares, bonds, contracts, copyrights, and physical merchandise change hands (or in some cases tentacles) here daily.
<p>The actual trading floor is virtual; brokers all over the planet plug in photonically, and deal with cybernetic representations of each other. The images they present tend to approximate one or another archetypal financier, from the jut-jawed, aggressive young man to the trustworthy old uncle, from the distractingly attractive young woman to the competent but caring matron; enough actual personal characteristics are retained so that excessive shock will not ensue if a physical meeting is called for.
