<p><span class="tddefined"><strong>The Earth Times/Hurriyet</strong><br>
Marjorie Kouns, the installation artist who developed the project
specializes in urban art. This installation is a tribute to a simple
familiar object – the hand. Everyone seems to understand the
task and becomes both artist and performer in this theatrical sculpture.
The stories begin to flow: about how women use henna dyes to make
designs on hands before they get married or how palm prints were
left by Aboriginal tribesmen on cave walls. As you leave you promise
to fax Marjorie your handprint when the exhibit makes its next stop
at the Olympics in Atlanta.<br>
It’s all good fun- and more. The symbolism is powerful. Of
course, no two drawings are exactly alike. Each image is a testimony
of a person’s identity that is individual, yet universal.
Each says, “Hey, there is a creative person here – Hi”!</span>
