A little after this and about three years ago this city [apparently St. Louis] and Chicago were flooded with circulars defaming the lady's character. The authorship was charged to both Karr and English, but they both emphatically denied that they had anything to do with it. Mrs. English still was firm in the belief that Mr. English originated the scandalous circular. Some time ago a correspondence was begun between Mr. and Mrs. English, and Mr. English proposed to marry her again.
