Temple, but there are no other candidates in that area that I know of. Buried in Graceland Cemetery, Avoca, IA, she is not named other than as the wife of B. Temple, which itself is either a misreading or mistake. Her parents were claimed in 1880 to be from VA (father) and KY (mother), the same as her husband, which looks suspicious to me. Research by Mickey Mathis, indicated further problems with the identification of Martha Drinkard (which comes from the Douglas County marriage records). She said "the Martha Drinkard you have in your files, daughter of Joshua Drinkard, married Newton Hambrick. In 1870 they were living in Scott Co., KY and I could not find either of them in 1880. Later I find Newton living alone with sister Gayle. So I think you might have the wrong Martha in your file." There is doubt, therefore, in the sources and the identification of Martha Drinkard that requires better proof. The Martha Drinkard who married Samuel Temple was the daughter of Joshua Drinkard and Polly Gregg, according to NE marriage records.
