The obituary of his wife who died in 1941 said she was Minnie and that her brothers were Frank, Vincent and Ray Passage. So, Minnie's maiden name was probably Passage. But, in the 1915 census, her mother was a Westhoven. There was a separate person, Mary Passage, who apparently married Christian after taking out a marriage license in Jun 1925. She was the mother of Christian Nicholas Temple, Jr., in his SSAN application, which does not differentiate between birth mother and a stepmother. Mary was not married to Christian Temple in 1920 - she was still single and living at home with her mother, so this is not a confusion of one with who went by different given names.
