Enumerated as Eleanor in 1870. In her daughter Nanny's marriage papers with Emanuel Hurd, her maiden name was Elizabeth J. Redman. There are problems with that of two different kinds. She seems to have been born a Wentz and is seen as a Wentz in 1860 with her parents. Then there is her marriage date in 1873 and the wide gap in the children enumerated with David and Elizabeth - the hard one to explain is Sarah Temple. It does not appear from the census that David had an earlier wife - so where did Sarah come from? She's more of an age to be the sister of Elizabeth Wentz according to the census ages than she is a daughter of Elizabeth Wentz. Although Elizabeth Wentz was old enough by the time she married David Temple to have been married earlier - that still doesn't jibe with her appearance in the censuses as the daughter of George Wentz. If the connection of Elizabeth as the daughter of George Wentz is a mistaken connection, then it is possible she was born a Redman and then married a Wentz about 5 years before marrying David Temple. But that scenario still doesn't explain the presence of Sarah b 1855. My conclusion is that the marriage date in 1873 is certain, and that she married as a Wentz - beyond that, there is probably some confusion over names and dates.
