By 1900, she had had one child who survived, and this claim remained true in 1910. Based only on circumstantial information, I suspect that Newell was her child, but the other children are to either an earlier wife or a third and unknown wife. But, as noted under her father Amasa's information, the 1880 census may be correct, and appears to assign all three children to Jane, but Jane may have had a sister-in-law, Alace (Alice) ae 24 in 1880, who married an unknown Temple, possibly related to Janes husband, Henry Remington Temple.<br>The 1880 enumerator seems to have wanted to clarify the family lines by listing married surnames but listing the family by generation. So, in 1880, Amasa's children came first, followed by his grandchildren, and we are left with three grandchildren surnamed Temple whose mothers were Jane and Alice Temple, and the division of the children if they weren't siblings, was impossible to tell.<br>One thing seems certain - a least by 1880, she was no longer responsible for her stepson Frederick, b 1872, who disappears from records until his marriage in 1904 to Ida Ham.
