When tht killing took place, the Seals, Stafford and temples had gone to 'old man Terrell's place' to settle a difference between the Temples and Terrell's son. A fight ensued with Terrell during which Stafford mortally wounded Terrell. Hobgood also fired a slug into the wounded man. The Seals brothers, Stafford and Hobgood quickly retreated into Washington Parish where they were apprehended later, with the exception of Stafford who escaped into the swamp. Temples was incarcerated in the jail in Ellisville, Mississippi, and the Seals boys were placed in the jail in Columbua, mississippi, where they awaited justice." Survived by a wife and several dependent children.<p>"Burial entry in sexton's ledger book shows: Mr. TEMPLES, born in Georgia, died aged 26 years, having been scalded, and was buried 15 APR 1880 in Pauper Ground as a resident of Columbus, Georgia (so probably died there). The sexton then was Abraham ODOM.<p>"This grave evidently is not identifiably marked. Indigent burials were scattered throughout the cemetery, not concentrated in a particular part."<p>Mac fits these parameters, wa sthe only Temple or Temples in Clumbus whose family was enumerated in 1880, but enumerated without him. He is tied to William Henry Temples explicitly through the SSACI, so it seems a reasonable conclusion Mac was buried in a pauper's grave shortly before the 1880 census. It seems proof of the conclusion, however, will remain elusive. He seems to be related to George Washington Temple(s) of Early Co., GA, who had a son named Crawford McAllister Temples (who was even designated as a Jr. in one census) and who also married an Odom. The name similarity and the date of marriage in Early Co. suggest that McAlister was the son or nephew of George Andrew and Bethany (Kelly) Temple(s).
