His parents were from NC (father) and VA (mother). Appears with the terminal S in 1870 but not in 1850. He was apparently not enumerated in 1860.<p>He may be related to Daniel and Margaret Temple(s), also of Hamilton Co., TN, and enumerated nearby in 1850, and may be their son. In Hamilton Co., TN in 1850, another set of Temples was enumerated - the family of Charles and Mahala Temples; Daniel and Mahala were Charles' parents. Charles and Mahala had a daughter named Amanda, born about the same time as James' daughter. More importantly, James was enumerated in 1850 in the household of William and Tennessee Lewis. Daniel and Margaret had two children, named William and Tennessee. I think that points to Margaret as being a Lewis, or Tennessee was a temple and related closely to Daniel.. However, this needs to be researched and proven.
