Research by John T. Cunningham, <[email protected]> built a compelling case, particularly when evaluating his children, that both people were the same person. Unresolved, however, is whether he had a wife before Mary Elizabeth (this could be the case only if his 1838 birth date were correct).<p>John Cunningham's research included recollections from Jesse's daughter-in-law, Arlene Hilburn Temple. Also, Carroll County marriage records give the date in 1844, in marriage book A, p. 468. Marriage book A mainly covers the years 1843-1847, but has two anomalous entries, one in 1853, and another 1854, in some sources. These outliers are suspect.
