First, his name was an enumerator error - possible, but unlikely. Second, his parents changed his name some time after his age of 9 months in 1860 so he is the same person as the son later known as Russell. Third, Russell's birth date in 1900 was subject to the fairly common wrongful way in which birth years were rounded, creating a one year error. That might mean that Russell was actually born in Oct 1860. However, that also means that Daniel was never claimed by his mother in lists of her children, and he died before the 1870 census.
