Name is also given as Marcella (1900) and Marilla, a common name at the time. I have gone with Marcia for agreement with her mother's name, and because it appears in the 1870 census and death records. It is also possible that they are not the same person, given the discrepancy in the death date. However, the 1900 census indicates a marriage length of 40 years - so I think these are alternate spelling. There is a chance that her son Frederick's unknown wife was named Marcia, and based on timing and location, she was the person who d at Sherrill, where Frederick was, in 1917, and that the similarity of the names has created confusion. That same set of facts, though, can be explained by this person, Frederick's mother, living with her son Frederick's family in Sherrill during her final illness, and she died there in 1917, under the name Marcia M., based on the date and location given in death records.<p>But then there is the problem of her gravestone in Pratt's Hollow, where she died in 1869. I can't explain it. She was found in the census after that date - so i don't know who died in Pratt's Hollow in 1869.<p>By 1900, she had had 2 children, only 1 of whom survived.
