When she married Albert Clark, she claimed to be a widow, but did not say whether all three husbands had died, or whether only the prior one.<p>When she married Amla Littell, the affidavit said she had her mother's consent on file, and that her mother was the sole surviving parent. That was in fact incorrect, and the reason for the error is not clear. It is likely that it had to do with her mother's not wanting to say she was divorced, but that is just a guess.
