His age seems a bit late for him to be the son of Orrin Chase and Mary Elizabeth (Goodwin) Temple, but not for him to have been a grandson. However, his marriage records list him as their son. <p>Another odd thing is that he said that Frances Temple would always know of his location when he registered for the draft, and she was living at the same address as he in 1942. That looks very much as though Mabel Frances did not divorce him, or that he had a daughter named Frances, as Frances Bubier and he did not marry until a year later.<p>In fact, there is something especially odd about the timing and number of his marriage to Frances Margaret Bubier (see the note on that marriage). Either way, there is something wrong with the family as presented here. Part of the key may be the records with his middle name of George, as there was a Lester George Temple in NY, born about 13 years after this person.<p>I wonder if he is actually a grandson, in or out of wedlock. I also suspect there was some issue with his marriage, or lack thereof, to Frances Bubier that led to the 1943 scramble to document a marriage, in those days possibly for the sake of the children. The official documentation makes her a third wife, but then there are those kids who show up nearly 20 years earlier.<p>Not enumerated as a Temple in 1920. Several of his relatives were also from Danville in Montour County. However, it is possible that he might be the son of Henry Seward Temple. Part of the problem is that the son of William Henry Temple, who informed his father's death certificate, gave his name as Lester S. Temple, though he had an address in Danville, PA. This same person gave his name as Lester Smith Temple when he married Edna May Carter in Danville.
