His service number indicates he had prior service in the National Guard.<p>With the disparity in his claims for his birth year, this record has a potential confusion with another, very similar Lawrence Temple who was also in the Army. The other Lawrence was b 1924 in TN, and enlisted 18 Feb 1943 at Campt Forrest, TN. The other Lawrence's service # was 34529774, and he was married at the time of his induction. It may be some of the data for Lawrence, son of John Landon Temple and Margaret Mai Chick belongs to the other Lawrence, whos dates and parents have not yet been established. <p>The report of Lawrence Temple as a prisoner of war did not indicate a service # nor a date specific enough to be tied to this or the other Lawrence.<p>To complicate things, the 1940 census has only one Lawrence Temple, b 1924 +/- 1, and he was the son of John Landon Temple.
