One of them, ae 2 months, is most likely the son of Josiah Temple. Albie is not certain, because at age 6, if accurate, he is too old to be the son of either Josiah or John Henry. He died on 29 March 1875 at the age of 56 in Bear Creek, Chatham, NC.<a href="sources.htm#109279" class="lnk">109279</a> Buried in Bear Creek Cemetery - Old, Bear Creek, NC. He has reference number RLT # W97.<a href="sources.htm#26263" class="lnk">26263</a> Josiah is a problem, in that various sources confuse him with a Joseph Temple(s), and give him two wives named Mary. The census records securely place him in Chatham county, NC, but the marriage suggested to Mary Elizabeth Weeks puts him in Perquimans. That marriage, of a Josiah and a Mary in 1865 is most likely Josiah b 1841 in NC. But that raises a problem of two children enumerated with this Josiah and Mary in 1870 in Chatham County. Two boys were born more than a decade after their siblings -- and that looks like a second wife was involved. I have resolved this by putting Josiah b 1841-1842 as the son of this Josiah. But that means that this Josiah and his wife Mary were both dead before the 1870 census - not an unreasonable assumption given their birth dates. The 1880 census further confuses things by giving a Mary Temples, who appears to be properly aged to be Mary Nalls, with two recent sons. And it gets worse - in 1880, Mary Temples, who seems to be Mary Nalls, mother of William and Joseph, is living next door to John Temples, who I now believe to be the son of Josiah and Mary Nalls. Living with John is an Emiline ae 65, who is his aunt, and an Anne ae 15, listed as his niece. There is an Emeline Temples, wife of David Temple, living in Blakely, Ga, in 1870. Anne may be Annie, daughter of John Wesley Foster Temple (and brother of Josiah, husband of Mary Nalls). They may be the key to separating the family properly.
