Temple, who resides at No. 314 South Third Street, about 12 o'clock Thursday night was awakened by a noise at his bedroom window facing on the balcony.  He arose and went tot he window and reached there just in time to see a man leap from the balcony. Mr. Temple made a search through his house and found nothing had been disturbed.  He again retired and an hour later he was disturbed a second time and found a man trying to remove the window screen.  Mr. Temple grabbed his revolver, and as he was about opening the balcony door the would-be thief fired a 38-calibre bullet through the door. The bullet just grazed Mr. Temple's right thigh and struck the wall and fell flattened to the floor, where it was later found,  When Mr. Temple reached the balcony the fellow had made his escape.  Mr. Temple found a man standing beside his bed at midnight a few weeks ago."
