Temple might have been the son of James b 1790-1800 and a first wife, unnamed, but I do not think so. James M.B. Temple was born 1802-1805, based on what the latter reported to the census takers in 1850 through 1870. That would mean that James was as young as 2, and as old as 15 if he fathered James M.B. Furthermore, James does not appear as a son in the 1820 census, when he would have fallen in either the "10-16," "16-18" or "16-26 category. I consider it more likely that James was the same person as James M.B., because they never appear together in the same census. I have broken out the children based on an artificial gap in the ages of the children in the late 1830s. The break could just as readily be found after Nancy was mentioned in the deed in 1831, and before the birth of Mary in 1834.
His son Robert Henry's death certificate said his name was William Temple.

Spouse: Martha HOLT-34682.
