Ages that he gives for some of his siblings are wrong, and he incorrectly states his father's date of death.  The 1850 census is probably the most accurate source regarding Ira's birth information." Ira wrote a letter to his sister Sarah from “Murfersboror.”  On 3 May 1863, Ira was listed as a driver in the Division Ambulance Train.  On 20 Sept. 1863, he was taken prisoner at the battle of Chickamauga.  He was sent to a prison in Richmond, VA, and transferred to Danville, VA, on 12 Dec 1863 and later sent to Andersonville Prison in GA.
