He was 65 years old, and was well known in this section of the county. His remains were brought to this village on Tuesday and the interment made in Lakewood cemetery."<p>His death certificate reported his death date as 20 May, and his age as 45. The Coroner called 3 witnesses - George's brother Seth D. Temple, Mrs. Mary Reymonda, and Dr. D. R. Kinloch (the attending physician). The conclusion was that George died from a self-inflicted wound, and the immediate cause of death was shock. He died at 5:10 in the morning of 20 May.<p>Although the news reports include mention of an antemortem interview, no such records seems to exist. The only reason provided for George's suicide is consistent among the newspaper reports and the Coroner's witnesses - George insisted he was tired of living. His brother Seth had seen him two days prior to his suicide, but noted nothing different as a reason. Seth revealed a revolver had been taken from George on 9 May, so the decision was also not a sudden one.<p>Seth mentioned that George had been despondent and melancholy of late, and was a man of intemperate habits. Seth also reported that George expressed no sorrow at having shot himself, but was sorry he had not done a quicker job of it. An alcoholic who attempted suicide several times.
