The information given to the 1900, 1920 and 1930 censuses make absolutely no sense otherwise. For instance, her parents were both from OH in 1900, both from the US in 1920, and both from IA in 1930. By 1900, she had had 5 children, only one of whom survived, which makes little sense since she was enumerated with three children. That is, unless only one of the three was her child. More importantly, she gave birth years of 1840 in 1900, but 1864 in 1920, and 1853 in 1930. Moreover, if she were the original Gertrude in 1930, she would have been 90, but she was listed as the head of the household, indicating she might be younger. To fit these circumstances, it is hard to find even two combinations that make sense, given the wide dispersion of her ages. The one in 1900 claimed to have had only one child (Thomas), so a second marriage, if it existed at all, had to have occurred before 1900, and that makes no sense given the differences in the ages she claimed.<p>His parents were from US (father) and Ireland (mother).
