He is related in some way to Aubrey Hiram Temple, son of Albert Hiram and Mary (Pepper) Temple, as they lived together in 1918, and Aubrey Hiram gave Edward Samuel as his next of kin. Camp Merritt was one of five US Army Embarkation Camps established in 1917 for the port at Hoboken, NJ, both for incoming and outgoing soldiers.<br>With the American Expeditionary Force from 22 Jul 1918 to 3 Sep 1919, and honorably discharged 25 Sep 1919. Cited several times in official reports, and cited for gallantry in action.<br>Service number was 3490592.
