It says he came with his wife to Guernsey in 1808, but that was 10 years before they married. His parents were both from PA. At the time of his birth, there were not many Temples known in Westmoreland County. One in particular might be his father - that being John Temple who married Jane Russell in 1795. The problem is that Edward's birth is a bit early after their marriage, and they were not known to have a son named Edward. The most prolific family of John and Elizabeth (Marshall) Temple, of North Huntington, PA, is another possibility. There, though, the huge family size and extensive documentation of the family include on one named Edward.
However, an alternative exists. Based on where some of their descendants ended up (in NM), and tracing back, Edward Temple may be the son of John and Elizabeth (Marshall) Temple. Their son, Isaac b 1799, has a line of descent which stayed for a while in OH before ending up in Albuquerque. If Edward is indeed the son of John and Elizabeth (Marshall) Temple, then their descendants in NM, Elmer C. Temple b abt 1900 and Galen C. Temple b 1902, were third cousins. The main reason Edward is not associated with the family of John and Elizabeth is that his birth date does not fit between two of their children. That would seem to be resolvable if a better documented birth date for Edward can be proved.
A third possibility is a little more tenuous. In 1880, his grandson George Grant Temple's future wife, Elizabeth Jerew and her family, were enumerated just a few doors away from Abraham Temple, b 1842, OH, whose ancestor was Thomas, also or Jackson Twp., Richwood, Union, OH. Temple wasn't an uncommon name in that area at the time, so this doesn't prove a linkage, but suggests there might be one since both lines point back to PA at about the same time.

Spouse: Margaret Jane (Jane) GIBSON-24581.
