Domestic trouble and consequent partial derangement of mind, no doubt led to the act, his wife having left him several months ago. When found, his gun lay on one side and ramrod on the other, and as the charge entered his heart, it is supposed he placed the butt of the gun against the wall and discharged it with the ramrod. A book was found on his person in which he had written two days before that he had intended to do just as he did. Sometimes appears as Templer, as in 1875 state census. Given as Amason or Amacon with Germanic spelling in 1860, but it was the phonetic form of Emerson.
