Her parameters beautifully fit the daughter of John H. and Mariah Temple of Washington, Union, OH in 1870, but that person, named Mary E., married Marcus Sager and died in Columbus, OH, in 1944.  No one named Pet was ever found in any of the censuses prior to her marriage to Sidney Immel.  A poorer candidate is Mary, dau of John and Mary Temple of Jefferson, Guernsey, OH, but she was born a bit too late, her father's middle initial if any is unknown, and her mother was b PA.  In short, Pet is likely a nickname, and her identity is undetermined.  Maiden name in death records was Teeple.  Marriage records show she was a Teeple when she married A.S. French on 1 Oct 1889 in Dallas, MO.  She is retained in the database because of the connection to a newspaper and her mother's married name was said to be Temple (apparently in error).  The sources which give her maiden name as Teeple, though, are both faded and are difficult to read, and may indeed be Temple instead of Teeple, though this seems unlikely.
