No issue.<p>She and her husband adopted, in 1877, her sister's three children after her sister died.  It is not clear that any changed their surnames, however.  Hattie and Sallie Swett appeared with them in the 1880 census.<p>There is something extremely odd about her death date.  Her obituary is unequivocal, and is dated 11 Dec 1880.  It is clear that Mrs. E.A. Temple died on 6 Dec 1880.  However, it is also clear she was alive and well, living with her husband in the 1900 census, that she had the right birth date in 1900, and they claimed 49 years of marriage in 1900.  So, the error is not immediately apparent.  There is not another E.A. Temple in the area, so that is not the source of confusion.  There were apparently two wives, though, given someone surely died in 1880-.  Edward's wife gave her birthplace as IA in 1900, and the same for her parents' birthplaces.  However, in 1880, she was from NY, and her parents were from MA (father) and NY (mother).  So, it seems Edward was married to Elizabeth Jane Swett at some point (his first marriage) and to Jane E. or Elizabeth J. as a second marriage.  The report of having been married for 49 years, however, given in the 1900 is clearly wrong and offers the best and most simple solution for the problems presented here.
