DNA research, provided by Marie Hosdil <[email protected]>, indicated that Almeda was the daughter of Candace Temple, Slater's third wife. However, the timing of her birth and the marriage date for Candace and George suggests that Almeda Esther Slater was Candace's daughter by an earlier marriage. However, Marie Hosdil looked for such a marriage and has not found it. She reported "the jury is still out on who Almeda's father is, [sic] but DNA is strongly suggesting it is not G. W. Slater."
