Her maiden name appears in the death certificate (informed by her grandson Arthur Temple) for her son James W. Temple, who was said also to be the son of Caleb Temple. That Caleb is not Caleb L. Temple, husband of Elvira Sloan, whose son James had a different middle name and is otherwise well documented and certainly a different person.  The only other Caleb known was Caleb L. Temple's father, but his wife (Lettice Osbourne) was known in every census through 1880, and unless there was an otherwise unknown divorce, he does not appear to be that Caleb Temple, who died in 1869.<p>There were no other Caleb Temples who could be the father of James W. Temple.  She is also not the same person as Caleb (senior)'s first wife, whose maiden name is known (Lettice Osbourne) and was distinct from Shively.<p>It may be that the elder Caleb divorced Lettice and married a Shively before the birth of James, but that appears to be unlikely and there seems to be no documentation of that possibility.</p><p>Spouse: <a href="b2225.htm#P107106" class="lnk">Caleb TEMPLE-107106</a>.
