As a young woman, she was studying to be a nurse and that's how she met my grandfather, Oakley James Temple. Oak had come to the hospital, somewhere in LA, for treatment for an injured foot. My grandmother took care of him. He fell in love with her and within days asked her to marry him. Anna was dating someone else at the time and was not so sure but Oak convinced her that he owned a large farm in Wisconsin and would be a good husband. They married and he took her back to Wisconsin, where my grandmother discovered he owned no farm. Oak did not always tell the truth."
