By 1900, she had had 6 children, one of whom survived.  Enumerated only as "mother" in 1900, she was actually the mother-in-law.  Some sources identify her as Sarah Alice Liles, but the latter went by Sarah, was born six years earlier, spent her time in NC, had 8 children, 8 of whom survived to 1900, was married to G.P. Sowell before 1920, and had at least two sons by Sowell, and simply can't be the same person.  However, by the 1910 census, G.P. Sowell's wife was Mary, indicating that his marriage to Alice was a second one.
