Comments miscellaneous information given such as year of marriage (m.), year of immigration, and relatives who lived in the household.

The following examples are given to give an understanding on how read the information.
Example 1 - w/John & Mary Smith 37-35 PA-NY (father in law)
the above means that the person listed in the name column is living with John Smith age 37 born in Pennsylvania and Mary Smith age 35 born in New York. The person in the name column is father-in-law to John who was the head of the household.

Example 2 - Sarah Jones is cousin or Sarah Jones (cousin)
the above means that Sarah Jones is living with the person listed in the name column and is a cousin to him/her.

Explanation of age - The age given is the person's actual age when the census was taken. Most of the time if a person had a birthday from June to December his age would reflect that he was born the next year.
Example: John Temple was actually born August 1856. The 1860 census would give his age as three. My genealogy files would show him to be born in 1857. (unless I knew his actual birth date)

Legend of place born:

E = England M = Mexico
S = Scotland	P = Poland
I = Ireland R = Russia
G = Germany	NS= Nova Scotia
A = Australia	US= United States
C = Canada ? = not known or given
All other two letter entries are abbreviations of states in the United States.
Three letter entries indicate a foreign birth usually given with the first 3 letters of its name.
Examples:
Fra = France	Aus = Austria
Gre = Greece	Wal = Wales
Bar = Barbados

Legend of relationships:
(b) = brother	(rel) = relation of unknown title.
(si)= sister (adp)= adopted
(ne)= nephew	(fil) = father-in-law
(ni)= niece (mil)=mother-in-law
(a) = aunt (gs) = grand son
(u) = uncle (gd) = grand daughter
(f) = father (ss) = step son
(m)= mother (sd) = step daughter
(c)= cousin (sil) = son or daughter-in-law

Please note that sometimes children will be listed as head of the household when enumerated with families of non-Temples.
Also adults are sometimes listed as children when living with someone like parents or siblings.
When more than one family lived together who had the Temple surname an attempt was made to move the family head of each family to the name column.
Examples would be:

1.	Parents living with a son or daughter.
2.	Son with a wife living with a sibling or parents.
