I had intended to present Part 5 in the 12 Part Series of our investigation
into the statements made and actions taken by Kurt & Katherine Mangsen,
the State Board of Registration of Funeral Directors & Embalmers (to
include its former Chairperson, present investigator, former and present
state employees assigned to the Board), and specific individuals within
the Division of Professional Licensure; but circumstances of the immediate
past 10+ days have taken center stage for the moment. I, therefore, will
delay Part 5 in the 12 Part Series for the immediate future and share with
you recent events.

I find it deeply moving and comforting to see that there are those in this
day and age as well as those from centuries ago that valued the truth then
and value the truth today. There is an Old Classical World Parable to guide
one in the pursuit of the truth.

“How Dreadful Knowledge of the Truth Can Be – When
There is No Help in Truth!” (excerpt from Oedipus Rex)

Sophocles’ Wisdom, profound as it is, is a beacon in the modern
world for “finding the truth through communication.”

Coach Mike Krzyzewski (better known as Coach K.) of the Duke University
Blue Devils basketball program has always instilled in his players and publicly
in speeches and advertisements (most recently during the March Madness messages
sponsored by Chevrolet) that “Nothing is more powerful
than the truth!” The events of the past 10-14 days certainly
validate the principles presented above.

For the first time in the past 28 months, since I was abruptly terminated
without notice by Kurt Mangsen, President of Nordgren Memorial Chapel, after
almost 10 years of dedicated service to the Worcester Community, the first
ray of light to illuminate “the truth before GOD and Man (and
woman)” peaked through the shadows. A revelation of sorts
took place, and from darkness came the 1st glimmer of light. Allow me to
explain!

I created the web site www.justiceatwhatprice.com ONLY after I had responded
to complaints filed by Nordgren Memorial Chapel in the person of Mrs. Katherine
Mangsen; complaints forwarded to me by Mr. John Bresnahan, investigator
for the State Board and an employee of the Division of Professional Licensure.
My responses to the complaints were complete to the last word. My responses
were 100% accurate and supported by voluminous facts. My responses were
and are – “The Truth!”

What I have found shocking through this whole ordeal is what Sophocles
referred to as “finding the truth through communications!”
What I have known from the outset and what now has reared its head so that
everyone’s eyes are now forced open to see the light – is that
communications in the situation now under review have been “One Sided”
for more than 28 months or at least up until this past Friday, March 31,
2006.

On Friday, March 31, 2006 the prosecution attorneys for the Division of
Professional Licensure (Attorneys Read & Alexander) were to call the
last three (3) witnesses for the prosecution; specifically Mr. Kurt Mangsen,
Mr. John Bresnahan (investigator), and Mr. Tracy Mitchell, expert witness
for the prosecution before the Administrative Hearings Counsel conducting
the Administrative Hearing. As it would be, only Mr. Mitchell and Mr. Mangsen
testified on Friday, March 31, 2006; due solely to the fact that Mr. Mangsen’s
testimony took significantly longer than even I anticipated (although I
did know I would have a significant number of questions for him).

I have made it quite clear from the outset that the issues before me, the
State Board, and now before the Division of Professional Licensure were
and are a “Witch Hunt” of enormous proportions conspired by
and directly implicate several Central Massachusetts Funeral Directors in
the proceedings. Judgments were made using 2nd and 3rd party comments and
statements that have withered away with time – not having been documented
for the record at the time by the authorities tasked to do so.

It is not my intent to discredit Mr. Kurt Mangsen; for it is my belief
(and always will be unless proven differently to me) that Mr. Mangsen was
used by his wife, Mrs. Mangsen, and others in their employ to hopefully
meet and accomplish their personal agendas. During cross-examination on
Friday, March 31, 2006 Mr. Mangsen made statements of fact that he could
not support, could not attest to who actually made the statements to him,
or even when the supposed statements were made.

What was most shocking to me (and I cannot or will not speak for others
in attendance – for their faces told the whole story), was when I
presented the first of the several complaints filed against me by Nordgren
Memorial Chapel in the person of Mrs. Mangsen, to Mr. Mangsen and asked
Mr. Mangsen to take a moment to refresh his memory before I asked him questions
about the content of the complaint. Mr. Mangsen had a very puzzled look
on his face that immediately brought concern to me. Without thought or hesitation,
I asked him – “Mr. Mangsen, you have seen this and read
this complaint before today, haven’t you?” Mr. Mangsen’s
response – “No! I have not seen this complaint before
now!”

I was “blinded” by the light that immediately poured
into the conference room at the Division of Professional Licensure –
a conference room with no windows to the outside, but yet a conference room
full of participants that previously were unable to see the light through
the shadows.

It took me a moment to regain my composure, for the whole host of questions
I had for Mr. Mangsen – I could not ask; for he had not even seen,
let alone read, the complaints filed by Mrs. Mangsen, treasurer of Nordgren
Memorial Chapel in December 2003 (more than 28 months ago). Suffice it to
say, it was an extremely embarrassing moment for Mr. Mangsen, and again
speaking only for myself, I was pained and troubled for Mr. Mangsen. I had
worked tirelessly for years with Mr. Mangsen to bring him from the “12
years in the back room” (as stated in the initial complaint filed
by Mrs. Mangsen) to the front office, to meet and greet families; and I
was proud to have instilled a degree of confidence in a young man that others
had given up on. I came to love and respect Mr. Mangsen as a person, as
a brother, and as a son. From the day Harry Mangsen (Kurt Mangsen’s
dad) passed away, I proudly introduced Mr. Mangsen to the families I served,
to the Orthodox Clergy I love and admire, and I shared my passion with Kurt
to always remember “A Family Doesn’t Get a Second Chance to
say Good-bye to a Loved One” – so everything must be right for
the family regardless of the circumstances.

Mr. & Mrs. Mangsen at some point in the relationship felt the same
way about me and my wife, Carolyn; for we were asked and accepted with pride
their request for us to be God-Parents to their newly born son, Derek.

What I witnessed on Friday, March 31, 2006, as I suspect others in attendance
did as well, was a “broken man, who had retreated to the back room
where he had been for so very long” not wanting to know the facts
– not wanting to know what was happening – yet all the while
knowing “the Truth” – but fearful of ‘becoming clean
by coming clean’.

I probably shouldn’t, for the pain and suffering I have endured (as
well as the pain and suffering families that have lost loved ones in the
past 28 months and were forced to find alternated means for the arrangements
of their loved ones), but I anguish over the pain Mr. Mangsen is experiencing
as he has and continues to be manipulated like a ‘puppet on a string’
by others with an axe to grind at Mr. Mangsen’s personal and emotional
expense. GOD knows I have been the victim of this 28 month “witch
hunt” as you can see. I, also, believe Mr. Mangsen personally has
been victimized by those around him.

But there is more light which will be added to this series of dark events
to come out in the very near future. As I stated clearly on so very many
occasions and to the numerous appointed and elected officials within the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts, I have the facts to support the conspiracy
I allege to have taken place from the outset of these proceedings.

I shall conclude with a quote from the “In My Opinion” on the
editorial page of the Worcester Telegram dated March 12, 2006 referencing
“government of the people must be open”,

“Officials who arrogantly flout the law should face serious
consequences. As we have said before, corruption, abuse of power and insider
dealing thrive in the shadows and wither when exposed to the light of day.
When in doubt, let the sun light shine in!”

“The Light from the Sun will now allow the truth to be known”.

I wanted in this update to present recent affidavits from Mr. Mangsen
and Mr. Johnson that were faxed to the State Board by Mrs. Mangsen, during
the week of March 22, 2006 according to Atty. James Read – affidavits
that stated by my presence at a graveside service for a family that invited
me to be present, I somehow impeded Mr. Mangsen & Mr. Johnson’s
(Nordgren Memorial Chapel) ability to perform as funeral directors. I will
not dignify statements made in the affidavits by providing a response, but
wait till you read the responses from the family and the clergy alluded
to in the affidavits signed by and attested to by Mr. Mangsen & Mr.
Johnson. It will be obvious to you as it is to me and several families that
have been served in recent times at Nordgren Memorial Chapel that some principals
at Nordgren Memorial Chapel have no compassion for those who have experienced
the loss of a loved one, as they continue to cause the family additional
pain and anguish by making frivolous statements and distort facts in their
attempt to assassinate my character. Actual affidavits and responses to
be presented soon.
