Note the similarities (and differences) to the recent movie, �The Day After Tomorrow,� also featuring a flooded New York due to climate change. In this story, �New Worlds,� the change is brought about by a reversal of the magnetic poles of the Earth. The author had figured on this occuring by physically rotating the Earth upside down, hence the sloshing of the oceans into the cities. [Not to worry, that's not how it happens.] The story abruptly shifts to a power struggle in the jungles of South America! The Empire State Building was completed only a year before this was painted.
