SYMPOSIUM ANNOUNCEMENT AND FIRST CALL FOR PAPERS

All abstracts for Cape Town 2000 have now been evaluated. Abstracts for the reserve list can still be submitted.

This symposium will bring together experts in one of the earth's key sciences on the most southern tip of Africa - representing a concentration of knowledge and experience in remote sensing of the environment. You are invited to be part of it: The 28th International Symposium on Remote Sensing of Environment as well as the 3rd Symposium of the African Association of Remote Sensing of the Environment (AARSE) to be held in Cape Town, South Africa from 27 - 31 March 2000. Focussing on sustaining development into the next millennium, global as well as Africa-specific perspectives and experiences will feature in the technical programme.

The 28th ISRSE symposium is organised by the International Center for Remote Sensing of Environment and South African host-organiser, CSIR Satellite Applications Centre. The 3rd AARSE symposium forms part of Cape Town 2000. The event has the support of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) and the University of Cape Town (UCT).

Experts and opinion leaders will present their experiences on the diverse range of applications of remote sensing for the environment.

An Africa-specific category, focusing on the status of environmental remote sensing on this continent, will highlight the remote sensing infrastructure in Africa, the role of international organisations and capacity building.

Conference proceedings will be available to all registered symposium delegates.

Pre-symposium workshops will provide an interactive learning opportunity.
