The Official CapeTown 2000 function will take the form of a cultural evening at Groot Constantia, one of the country's historic homesteads, where Cape Governor, Simon van der Stel lived until his death in 1712. Van der Stel planted the first of the vineyards * for which Constantia has become renowned - on the estate.
<p>
Groot Constantia is one of the Constantia Valley's three functioning wine farms * its neighbours are the more modest Buitenverwachting and Klein Constantia * together they form the Cape Peninsula's only wine route.
<p>
* Optional excursion. It is not included in the registration fee and must please be pre-booked and paid for.
