<p><a NAME="No Special Installation or Wiring"></a><b>No Special Installation
or Wiring</b> is required. The PXP phone is compatible with standard
home wiring unlike many other home phone systems. All you need to
do to install and use your PXP phone is to plug it into standard telephone
socket, plug in the supplied AC adapter, program the extension number (press
Program and Transfer buttons at the same time, then press the extension
number you wish to use). The PXP phone may also be used in homes
or small businesses with "star wiring".
<p><a NAME="2 Line"></a><b>2 Line</b> operation with <b>Automatic Line
Selection</b> allows you to make full use of one or two telephone lines.
The PXP phone automatically selects a free line for outgoing calls or selects
the ringing line for incoming calls.
<p><a NAME="True Line In Use"></a><b>True Line In Use</b> detection allows
you to see if a line is in use by another phone, modem or fax machine,
prevents disruption to other calls and makes sure you can only select a
free line. Many other products can only detect if a line is being
used by a phone from the same manufacturer - True Line In Use detection
will work with phones, fax machines or modems from any manufacturer.
<p><a NAME="Call Hold and Transfer"></a><b>Call Hold</b> with <b>Music
on Hold</b> and <b>Transfer</b> features allow you to either place a caller
on hold and then pick up the call from another phone or to directly transfer
the call to a specific extension. For example, if someone answers
the phone and the call is for you then they can press the Transfer button
followed by your extension number and your phone will ring. If you
are not at your phone then they can use the Paging feature to broadcast
a message through all the PXP phones in the house, you can answer the nearest
phone and the call can be transferred to you.
<p><a NAME="Speakerphone"></a><b>Speakerphone</b> operation allows you
to make handsfree calls. A <b>Mute</b> button provides privacy by
temporarily muting the built-in microphone
<p><a NAME="2 Line Conferencing"></a><b>2 Line Conferencing</b> allows
a three way conference with callers on lines 1 and 2. This eliminates
phone company charges for conferencing and can be used to save money on
long distance or international calls. You can also use the
Transfer feature to call other PXP phones in the house and include them
in the conference call.
<p><a NAME="Intercom"></a><b>Intercom</b> allows you to call a specific
extension or to broadcast through all extensions simultaneously.
If you don't know where someone is you can broadcast a message through
all the PXP phones in the house, they can answer you by simply picking
up the nearest phone.
<p><a NAME="Call Privacy"></a><b>Call Privacy</b> prevents a PXP phone
from using a line if it is already in use. This also prevents disruption
to fax and data calls.
<p><a NAME="Independent Do Not Disturb"></a><b>Independent Do Not Disturb</b>
for each line allows you to selectively disable the ringing for each line.
This allows you to receive calls on one line whilst not being disturbed
by calls on the other. For example, Line 2 may be a fax line
that you also use for outgoing voice calls - setting DND on Line 2 would
prevent you being disturbed by incoming faxes but still allow you to select
and use Line 2 for voice calls - with True Line In use and Call Privacy
you can avoid accidentally disrupting those important faxes.
<p><a NAME="Message Light"></a><b>Message Light</b> indicates that an incoming
call was not answered and the <b>Message Button</b> allows you to speed
dial your telephone company provided voice mail service
<p><a NAME="Line Free Alert"></a><b>Line Free Alert </b>automatically signals
you when a line becomes available. If both lines are busy then all
you need to do is lift the handset, press the Hold button and replace the
handset - when a line becomes free your PXP phone will alert you.
<p><a NAME="Speed Dial"></a><b>Speed Dial</b> allows you to store your
10 most commonly used numbers and recall them instantly.

<p>Using a PXP phone in your home office gives you the benefit of a 2-Line
Speakerphone with Call Hold and Conferencing.
<p>If you use line 2 for your Fax machine then you can set Do Not Disturb
on line 2 to prevent the phone ringing for incoming fax calls but you can
still use the line for outgoing voice calls.
<p>You can plug your modem into the Line 2/ Data socket on the back of
the phone - ideal for those using notebook PCs.
<p>With PXP phones in other rooms in the house it is easy to Transfer business
calls to your home office and to ensure Call Privacy. Your important
fax and data calls won't get disrupted if someone accidentally picks up
a phone.
<p><b><font color="#0000FF">Families with Teenage kids</font></b>
<p>You may have a second "kids" line if you have teenage children.
You are probably also driven insane by the continuous stream of phone calls
and the need to shout around the house to find your 13 year old or by late
night phone calls. With PXP phones installed in your home then you
can make your life simpler and easier.
<p>Call Transfer allows you to transfer calls directly to other extensions.
If your teenager has extension 3 in their room then you simply press Transfer
3 and their phone rings.
<p>Intercom (e.g. Intercom 3) allows you to call directly to any other
extension. Broadcast (Intercom #) allows you to make announcements
through all PXP phones at the same time. If you need to find
someone then you can use the Broadcast function to call them, they can
simply pick up the nearest phone and you can talk to them.
<p>Do Not Disturb allows you to disable the ringing on the kids line for
the phone in your bedroom. This means that you won't get disturbed by those
late night calls but you can still receive calls on your own line.
<p><b><font color="#0000FF">Compatibility</font></b>
<p>PXP phones have been designed to work in a home environment. This
means that they will operate through normal (parallel) telephone wiring
and require no special installation. They can be "mixed" with other
devices - the Line In Use detection capabilities of PXP will work with
regular phones, modems and fax machines. Many other products
cannot do this and can only detect if a line is being used by another phone
from the same manufacturer .. that's why we call ours "True" Line In Use.
<p>Obviously, regular phones do not have the built in intelligence of PXP
phones and features such as Call Transfer and Intercom will only operate
between PXP phones.

<b>Caller ID with Call Waiting</b> reports the name and number of incoming
callers. Missed calls can be returned by selecting entries from the Caller
ID log - PXP Plus can store multiple local area codes and understands typical
US area code rules.
<p><b>Integrated Phone Book</b> allows Caller ID entries to be stored with
a single key press and retrieved using alphabetic lookup. Simply
pressing the Phone Book and "3 def" buttons jumps immediately to the "d"
entries, the scroll buttons can be used to find the exact entry and the
"dial" button to automatically seize a free line and make the call.
<p><b>The PC Interface</b> is designed to attach to typical PC serial interfaces
using a standard modem 9 pin cable. Phone numbers can then be dialled
directly from Microsoft Outlook, ACT or similar contact managers and Caller
ID information passed to the PC for incoming calls.
<p><b>Headset Jack</b> allows a standard telephony style of headset (2.5mm
jack) to be plugged directly into PXP Plus.
<p><b>Audio Jack</b> allows an audio source to be used to provide Music
on Hold. A PXP Plus phone can either provide local Music on Hold
or can be a master source for the entire home or office.
